Condition—excitement, anticipation

Quality—courage, honor

Concrete noun—something you can physically see, touch, taste, smell (player, gasoline, ball)

Abstract noun—something nonphysical—can’t perceive through 5 senses (hatred, infinity)

Collective noun—names groups of people or things (crowd, team, jury, band)

Compound noun—composed of 2 or more words acting as a single unit (spaceship, snowman)

*separated (crab grass)   * hyphenated (sister-in-law)

Common noun—names a class of people, places, things (president)

Proper noun—specific name (President Reagan)
